Poisoning in the child

Poisoning is dangerous for the health of any person, but especially for the child. The signs of food poisoning in children, as well as how to give the child first aid in poisoning, must know all parents.

Symptoms of poisoning in children

Determine the poisoning in the child can be on the following grounds:

Sometimes, in case of infection, poisoning in a child can increase body temperature.

What should I do if my child is poisoned?

  1. If your child has been poisoned with poor-quality or stale foods and all of the above symptoms are present, then first of all you need to urgently call a doctor, and in the meantime take measures to alleviate the condition of the sick child.
  2. Rinse the stomach with a weak solution of potassium permanganate or simply a large amount of pure water. To do this, get the child to drink at least 1-1.5 liters of fluid and cause him to vomit, pressing on the root of the tongue.
  3. After washing the stomach should give the child activated charcoal, which is very effective in poisoning. Coal can replace Enterosgel or any other sorbents. They must be in your medicine cabinet.
  4. With vomiting and diarrhea, the baby's body loses a lot of fluid, and your task is not to let it dehydrate. In order to make up for the loss of fluids, let the child drink often, but gradually. It is best to restore the water-salt balance of special powders, which need to be dissolved in water (rehydron, hydrovit). Also as a drink, clean water, decoctions of wild rose or chamomile are suitable.
  5. If poor-quality food got into the body more than 3 hours ago, and gastric lavage during poisoning was ineffective, the child can be given an enema.
  6. Provide the baby with bed rest and sparing air temperature. As the attacks of vomiting cause severe fatigue, after them the child can fall asleep. Do not disturb him. If the body temperature rises, do not wrap the baby so that it sweats, as this will only cause additional dehydration of his body.

Further treatment of poisoning in children is carried out either in hospital hospitals or at home. It depends on the severity of the case, which the doctor will determine. Treatment usually consists of a sparing diet, abundant drinking and taking medications, the action of which is directed to the removal of intoxication and subsequent enzymatic support of the organs of the gastrointestinal tract.

Infant poisoning

A child of any age can be poisoned, including a baby. Poisoning of an infant may be caused by the transmission of toxic substances through the mother's milk, overdose of medicines or ingestion of household chemicals, medicines and even mother's cosmetics.

Symptoms of poisoning in infants are, above all, diarrhea, less often vomiting and allergic rashes. It is very easy to diagnose poisoning according to the condition of the fontanel: due to dehydration it seems to sink inward. This is a very disturbing signal, because in young children the body's defenses do not work as well as adults, and dehydration and intoxication develop very quickly. Parents in this case should react instantly, as soon as they notice the first signs of poisoning.

There are no drugs for poisoning for infants. Abundant drink (only not cow milk) and an immediate call of a doctor is all that parents can do in this case. If the baby is breastfed, in most cases breastfeeding can be continued, if on the artificial, then on the recommendation of the doctor should choose a more easily assimilated mixture.

Remember that the best treatment is prevention. Watch for the quality of foods your child uses, and do not leave drugs and other chemicals that can poison the baby
