Plum "Anna Shpet"

The sort of plum "Anna Shpet" has served to create many beautiful and resistant varieties . It itself was created in the 1870s by the German breeder Ludwig Shpet through accidental pollination of an unknown seedling.

In the 30's and 40's of the 19th century, the tree became very popular in the USSR and was divided into the southern region of Russia, the Crimea and Moldova.

Description of the plum grade "Anna Shpet"

Plum "Anna Shpet" refers to the late varieties, because the berries are ripening already at the end of September and even in early October. Fruits stay on the branches for a long time, not crumbling, even if they are fully ripe.

The main advantages of the variety are high yields, excellent taste of fruits, their impressive size, unpretentiousness in the care of trees, early start of fruiting, good preservation of collected plums, high degree of tree restoration.

An adult representative of the variety can annually take up to 100-150 kg of berries. The first fruiting occurs 4-5 years after planting. Collected plums can be stored for a long time in a cool place, without losing its attractiveness and, more importantly, flavoring qualities. They can be used fresh and recycled.

To the frost, the variety is not particularly stable, but when it freezes, the tree regenerates quickly. However, the "Anna Shpet" plum variety is not suitable for growing in the northern regions, as it becomes less fruitful and painful.

Since "Anna Shpet" is only partially self-fertilized, trees need a pollinator. The best pollinators are varieties of plums "Victoria", "Catherine", "Renklod Altana", "Renklod Green", "Washington", "Hungarian Domestic" and "Kirke".

As for the description of the immediate fruits of the plum "Anna Shpet", they are large (45-50 g), with a dark purple skin and a bright yellow flesh. The taste is sweet, with a pleasant dessert taste. The stone is easily detached, like the skin. The shape of the fruit is oval. There is no scarring, but there are many subcutaneous points and a wax coating. Side seam on draining is hardly noticeable.

The "Anna Shpet" tree is quite tall, with a wide and dense crown of a pyramidal shape. The bark on the trunk is grayish, shoots are thick, brown. The main branches and shoots are durable. Kidneys on shoots small, pointed. The leaves grow small, oval, with a pointed tip, matte, jagged at the edges.

Despite the emergence of many new varieties of plums, "Anna Shpet" does not cease to be popular due to its many merits.
