Plague of carnivores in dogs

Plague in dogs and carnivores (wolves, foxes) is an infectious disease that damages the intestines, internal organs, especially the nervous system. The disease is transmitted by airborne droplets in contact with a contagious animal, through shoes and the like. The incubation period can last up to forty days.

The first symptoms of carnivorous plague in dogs are: refusal to eat, photophobia, lethargy, temperature up to 41 degrees. These signs appear on the 1-5th day of the disease, with them the pet can still be cured without complications. On the 6-10th day, vomiting begins, purulent discharge from the nose, eyes, cough. In a week there are paralysis, paresis, epileptic fits. During this period, the animal can not be cured, the nervous system is affected and complications remain for life.

Puppies and elderly animals are more often sick with a plague.

Treatment of carnivorous plague in dogs

Plague therapy is most effective in the early stages of the disease. Destruction of the pathogen, suppression of infections, restoration of damaged organs, increase of immunity is carried out.

The virus is destroyed by sera and the use of immunoglobulins with antibodies to the causative agent of the distemper. They bind the virus and allow the cells of immunity to destroy it. Microbial infections are suppressed by antibiotics. Simultaneously, the damaged organs are treated, expectorants, sorbents, antidiarrhoeals are used. Recovery of the nervous system often takes months. The use of immunostimulants allows to increase the body's defense system, in this disease the animal's recovery depends largely on it.
