Pilanesberg National Park

History of the park

More than a million years ago, this area was troubled. Operating volcanoes literally tore up the continent, creating bizarre relief formations. At one time, the local tribes understood this, densely populating the territory and choosing farming as the main fishery.

In 1979, the government of South Africa decided to resettle people and create a national park on this territory. Before them stood the unprecedented task in the history of South Africa: to demolish all the buildings of the times of reign on this human land and to settle here as many wild animals as the reserve can accommodate. Like Noah's Ark, Pilanesberg took over 6,000 mammals belonging to 20 different species. Thanks to this colossal work, a rich collection of wildlife has been gathered here, attracting tourists and scientists from all over the world for several decades.

Here, tourists can see firsthand how the representatives of the famous "Big Five" - ​​buffalo, lion, leopard, rhinoceros and elephant live in natural conditions.

The park has professional caretakers with whom you can feel safe in the reserve, even at night. Independent sallies at night are very dangerous, so they are strictly forbidden to park management.

Also at any time, guests of the park can take part in a wide variety of safaris, including an incredible experience on a balloon trip. Thanks to its unique location and calm climate, this zone is one of the few in Africa where such flights can be carried out in principle.
