Young and inexperienced parents always have a lot of questions when caring for a baby. This applies to his nutrition. When the time for complementary food is suitable, the pediatrician can offer you different schemes for introducing new products. Among them, the mother can choose the right one for herself and her child. One of the most popular methods is the so-called pedagogical complementary feeding, or pedodrome. Let's consider its features in more detail.
What is pedagogical complementary feeding?
Pedagogical lure is called the type of complementary feeding, in which the child is introduced to breastfeeding with food and behavior at the table. The purpose of pedagogical complementary food is not to feed the crumbs, but to nurture a natural interest in food.
You can start feeding from a general table when the baby is ready to try out new products, namely:
- the baby was 6 months old;
- he already knows how to sit;
- the child has a food interest;
- a tooth came out of a crumb.
If this scheme suits your mother, you must adhere to the following rules of pedagogical complementary feeding:
- Kroha acquainted himself with food only at a common table on his mother's lap, and later also at his high chair.
- I do not need to cook separately for the baby. In the dish you can add a little salt and spices. Food for the baby is not crushed until the consistency of puree, and give with my mother's plate in the form of a piece.
- The baby is allowed to try products with microdoses - this is about as much food as is placed on the tip of a teaspoon, in the size of a grain of rice or buckwheat. Drink for inspection is placed on the bottom of the mug in the volume of one sip. Over time, the amount of food at one time increases. During the week the baby can get acquainted with 3 new products.
- Food should be given only from a plate or in a hand, but not from a table. Thus, a food culture is cultivated.
- Pedagogical complementary feeding should not replace the feeding of mother's milk. You can give food from an "adult" table before, during and after breastfeeding.
- Mom should stimulate the interest of crumbs to food. It is not necessary to "fatten" the child to a heap. It is better to give microdoses of different products. If the baby refuses, fits, do not need to insist.
Pedicure: for and against
This method of introducing new products has both positive and negative sides.
The advantages of pedagogical complementary feeding include the following:
- the baby gets acquainted with the food traditions of his family, learns to handle the cutlery;
- a crumb gets acquainted with new products when he is ready and wants to taste them;
- the child learns to chew, swallow, and his digestive tract is gradually getting used to digesting more complex food than breast milk;
- adaptation to "adult" food is faster;
- in the future, my mother is unlikely to be familiar with such a problem as a poor appetite of a baby;
- my mother does not need to cook separately for the baby and spend time and energy on it;
- do not need to buy canned mashed potatoes, instant cereals;
- the child can be left with his grandmother, father for the whole day (after 9 months).
In general, pedagogical complementary feeding is a method of natural training of a child for adult nutrition.
However, parents should take into account the existing shortcomings of pedagogical complementary foods:
- it is difficult to identify a product that led to diarrhea or allergies;
- at first the baby can be choked with slices of food, which naturally causes anxiety and fear in the mother;
- the whole family will have to change the diet - you need to exclude fried, spicy, salty, smoked.
Choosing a pedagogical complement, mom should be more attentive if her child is allergic. If the mother is sick with ARVI, she has a carious tooth or chronic diseases, so as not to infect the baby, do not feed from her plate.
