Outboard chair

Who among you in your childhood did not like to go on a swing? Some people, even in adulthood, do not abandon this children's entertainment and are looking for new analogs to swings. And here, as ever, suspension chairs to the ceiling will be appropriate. They are nice to sit, slightly swaying from side to side or even dozing, curled up.

Unlike the swing, the armchairs have a large base area, so you can change the poses at your discretion. In addition, the suspension models perfectly fit into the style of many rooms, which is a huge advantage from the design point of view. Let's look at the main types of seats and learn the features from the application.

Outboard chair-egg

It is also called a "ball" or "bubble" chair. Why such strange names? The fact that the chair has a round ovoid shape, which is very convenient for sitting. The pendant armchair-ball has a very interesting history connected with the design of the Radisson hotel in the capital of Denmark. Her design was handled by the architect Arne Jacobsen. The new building was made in strict horizontal and vertical lines, so the designer decided to supplement the room with a dominant contrast. As a result, they created an amazing chair-egg, called Egg chair. The first model was made of cast plastic on a metal base.

Over time, the product was perfected and modified, becoming more interesting and eccentric. Apogee of its development, it reached when one of their designers decided to deprive it of its foundation and hang it on the cables to the ceiling. To reduce the weight of the chair manufacturers decided to use plastic, rattan or thread. The most spectacular is a pendant glass rocking chair. For its manufacture use a transparent acrylic, reminiscent of the structure of the glass. This model fits well into the interior in loft style, minimalism, high-tech, avant-garde and constructivism.

Suspended wicker chair

As raw material for this product is used natural or artificial rattan. Suspended swing chairs made of natural rattan are designed for installation indoors, as natural precipitations and temperature changes can adversely affect the natural material. These products are represented by Viara, 4 Season Outdor, Bucatchi, Mazuvo, Calamus rotan, Spa Rattan, Kaya and Twist.

If you plan to use a chair on the street, it is better to choose a synthetic material. Suspended chairs made of artificial rattan are resistant to UV rays, do not burn out in the sun and perfectly tolerate high humidity. In addition, they are less deformable and have a more interesting weaving.

For a summer residence also the pendant armchair executed in technics macrame well approaches. Openwork weaving makes the product more elegant, and a thick fringe at the base adds playfulness and no one's coquetry. The most famous manufacturer, making armchairs macrame, is the Italian brand Cartagena.

Other Models

A good analogue of the vine and acrylic is the fabric. It is less traumatic, therefore it is considered a suitable basis for a suspended child seat. The fabric model is attached to several dense ropes to a carabiner mounted in the ceiling.

There are also products for which no additional fixing point is required. They come complete with a rack, the dimensions of which are designed to hold any weight. Such chairs can be moved from one corner of the room to another, which is very important for those who like to periodically rearrange the apartment. Armchairs on a rack can be made of heavier materials, for example, from metal or cast plexiglas.
