Nonspecific urethritis

Nonspecific urethritis is associated with inflammation of the urethra caused by E. coli , staphylococcus, gardnerella, streptococcus, protea, enterobacteria, adenoviruses or fungi, that is, microorganisms that normally live in the human body.

And if certain conditions arise - a decrease in immunity, the development of allergies, when there is a shift in the balance of the urethral or vaginal microflora, nonspecific or bacterial urethritis develops.

Symptoms of bacterial nonspecific urethritis in women

There are no clear boundaries of the incubation period in nonspecific urethritis. Its duration can be several months, and several hours.

If nonspecific urethritis occurs in an acute form, then its manifestations are more visible to the patient. In this case, there are aching pains in the lower abdomen, as well as soreness and itching in the urethra. In addition, there may be greenish or yellowish discharge with an unpleasant odor.

When nonspecific urethritis acquires a chronic course, then its symptoms are almost absent. The danger of the chronic form of the disease lies in the fact that it can provoke the development of cystitis, colliculitis, urethral stricture.

When a specific microflora is attached to nonspecific urethritis in the form of mycoplasmas, ureaplasmas, gonococci , then they speak of the development of secondary urethritis.

Than to treat a nonspecific urethritis?

The main treatment for nonspecific urethritis is antibiotic therapy. In the treatment of this disease antibiotics of cephalosporins, macrolides, tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones and sulfonamides are used.

At the beginning of the disease, agents with a wide spectrum of action are used, and after obtaining data on the sensitivity of the organism to antibiotics, they replace them with more effective ones.

In addition, the patient is prescribed immunocorrective drugs and vitamins. The acute form of nonspecific urethritis requires additional use of local treatment. For this purpose, the urethra is flushed with a solution of furacilin.

The patient also needs to follow a special diet, avoid heavy physical exertion, and limit sexual contact. With nonspecific urethritis, if a secondary microflora has not joined it, one sexual partner (in contrast to a specific urethritis) is treated.
