Mouse peas are a perennial herb, which belongs to the family of legumes. It grows practically on the whole territory of our country on meadows, slopes, fringes, in sparse forests, near shelter, along roadsides. Known mouse peas as a valuable honey, fodder, and also a medicinal plant.
Description and chemical composition of mouse peas
Mouse peas reaches a height of up to 120 cm, has a weak, clinging, branchy stem. Leaves thin, pubescent on one or two sides, pointed or rounded. Flowers of mouse peas are collected in the inflorescence of the brush, they have bright purple, blue-violet, rarely white color. The plant blooms in June - August. Fruits are oblong beans.
The used part of the mouse pea includes the grass and roots of the plant. To date, the chemical composition of this plant is not fully understood, but it is known that the raw materials contain the following substances:
- alpha-tocopherol;
- carotene;
- ascorbic acid;
- flavonoids;
- calcium;
- phosphorus.
Therapeutic properties of mouse peas
In traditional medicine, because of insufficient knowledge, mouse peas are not used, but since ancient times it has been used in folk medicine as a means with such useful properties:

Collection and harvesting of mouse peas
The roots and grass of mouse peas are harvested in summer at any time. Roots are carefully excavated, shaken off the ground, washed and dried on pallets in a ventilated place. Store harvested raw materials in tissue bags in a dry place for no more than two years. It is worth noting that when storing the roots of the plant should not be strongly tamped, and lying quite loose so that they do not damp and do not become moldy.
Application of mouse peas
When viral hepatitis is recommended to take a decoction of the roots of mouse peas, which is prepared according to this recipe:
- Pour a teaspoon of dried powdered raw material into a glass of water.
- Put on a fire and bring to a boil.
- Boil on low heat for 5 minutes.

- Pour three tablespoons of the dried plant grass with two glasses of boiling water.
- Leave to infuse for 2 hours, then drain.
- Take half the glass of the prepared preparation three times a day.
