Mainsail for the aquarium with their own hands

The aquarium is a dwelling for ornamental fish. And you can arrange it differently, based on the capabilities and preferences of the owner-aquarist. And if you decide to make a grotto for an aquarium with your own hands, then you will definitely get it.

Making a grotto for an aquarium

  1. For work you will need some materials: sea or river stones (pebbles), special aquarium silicone transparent sealant with a gun;
  2. Picking pebbles on the height, lay out the first layer of the future grotto.
  3. A little bit of sealant is put on the stones and another layer of stones is laid on top of it. The sealant should be used in the optimum volume. If it is not enough, then the strength of the construction will be compromised, and if there is much - the glue will flow out from under the stones.
  4. In order to make an exit from the grotto, we use any guide, for example, a cardboard package. This guide will help keep the pebbles until they are glued together.
  5. Wait until the sealant well hardens, and then push the guide out of the structure, leaving its edge only at the entrance. In order to form the arch of the grotto, the vacant space inside is filled with crumpled paper.
  6. We lay the cave of the grotto with stones on top of the paper, gluing them together with a sealant. After the glue dries well, remove the guide, and carefully pull the paper through the bottom of the grotto. If surplus sealant will be visible between the stones, they must be filled with small stones before the sealant solidifies. Now it remains to load our mainsail for several days into the water in order to wash all the harmful substances from it. Change the water in the aquarium every day.

Decorating the aquarium with such a grotto will create in it an atmosphere of mystery. In addition, many aquarium inhabitants need this kind of shelter, so the grotto will serve not only for beauty, but also for good.
