LED Energy Saving Lamp

Earlier, when there was only one kind of light bulb (with a filament), there was no problem of choosing what to buy in a chandelier. Now, when there are several varieties, the question arises: which ones are better?

In this article, we will describe the advantages of LED energy-saving in comparison with incandescent and luminescent lamps for use at home.

Principle of operation of LED lamps

Each LED lamp consists of a ballast starter, an aluminum radiator, a board with LEDs and a light diffuser. After turning on the lamp, the electric current, passing through the semiconductor LEDs, is converted into visible light by the human eye.

Such a bulb will not heat up, as with a filament, but this does not end its advantages. The main advantages of the LED lamp include:

  1. Long term of work. He is about 8 years old.
  2. Instant fire. While the fluorescent lamp flares up to a maximum for 1 minute.
  3. Ability to work with voltage drops. With low power supply in the network, other light bulbs begin to shine less or stop working altogether.
  4. Safety for people's health. This is due to the fact that such lamps do not contain harmful chemical elements (like luminescent ones), they also do not emit ultraviolet radiation and do not heat up (as with a filament).
  5. High luminous efficiency. Approximately it is 100-150 lm for 1 W of power consumption. While for a fluorescent lamp this figure is 60-80 lm, and for incandescent lamps - 10-15 lm.

The only essential The disadvantage of LED lamps is their high cost, but over time it pays off, and then you just start saving.

How to choose energy-saving LED lamps?

In LED lamps, not so important is the indicator of their power, as the intensity of the light emitted by them (brightness), expressed in lumens (lm). After all, with the same indicators of electricity consumption, light output can be different. Therefore, you can choose a lamp with a lower power, but which will shine brighter. Accordingly, it will save your budget more.

Considering all of the above, replacing fluorescent energy-saving and incandescent lamps with LEDs is advisable, but is not mandatory. It depends only on your desire and financial possibilities.
