What to see in the Cathedral of Lausanne?

This is nothing more than a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. It is enough to look at the elaborately detailed majestic interior of the building, and you understand why this building is considered the most unique in the whole of Europe.

By the way, the Lausanne cathedral or, as it is called, Notre Dame, is built in the most ancient center of Lausanne in the circle of local restaurants and hotels . Its tall towers, spiers, arched buttresses, stained glass "rose" - all this enchants with its splendor, the beauty of French Gothic architecture.

Earlier, a round stained glass "rose" was mentioned. This medieval mosaic personifies the whole world. Stained glass depicts God, which is surrounded by the four rivers of Eden, at times of the year, by twelve months and signs of the zodiac. By the way, in diameter "rose" reaches 8 meters!

It is also important to add that earlier in the cathedral a night watch was installed, which was supposed to prevent a fire threat. Today, from 22:00 to 2:00 the watchman climbs 150 steps of the stairs of the western tower and sits to his post, thereby preserving the old Lausanne tradition.

Also, every tourist can get acquainted with a picturesque view of Lake Geneva and Lausanne itself, climbing up to the observation deck of one of the towers.
