Kosice is a beautiful city of Slovakia , full of interesting sights, despite the fact that it concentrates almost all the metallurgy of the country. The history of the city began in 1230, as Villa Cassa, in which there were many events that left their imprint in the architecture and way of life of its inhabitants.
What to see in Kosice?
Since it was the city of Kosice, the first in all of Europe, that was given the right to have its coat of arms, then, naturally, this fact is very proud of the townspeople. To tourists coming here could also get acquainted with it, a monument with a bronze symbol of the city was erected on Main Street.

The next, most significant attraction of Kosice is the Roman Catholic Cathedral of St. Elizabeth, built in the Gothic style. Initially it was created in the Romanesque style and bore the name of St. Michael, but then it was reconstructed and renamed.

Of special interest to visitors in the cathedral are: the crypt of Prince Rakoci, tympanum "The Last Judgment", as well as a tower 55 meters high, to the top of which you can climb a unique spiral staircase.
From the original church, just behind St. Elizabeth's Cathedral, only the chapel of St. Michael, built in the 14th century, has been preserved.

In addition to the listed places, it is very interesting to visit such significant religious sites:
- the Jesuit church;
- A plague column 14 meters high, erected in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
- the Church of the Dominicans is the most ancient structure of the city.

- Yakabov Palace, used for state official events;
- State Theater, built in the neo-baroque style in 1899;
- The city tower, erected in the 14th century as a Gothic bell tower.

- Zoo, located in the town of Kavechana in the north-west of the city;
- a dancing fountain, established between the state theater and the famous cathedral;
- the children's railway is the only preserved in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. It is located in the Chermel valley in the north-western part.
