Certainly, man is the most cultured and intelligent being on the planet. Thanks to art, we are able to develop as a person , to understand our inner essence, to form our own vision of everything that is happening around. "Culture" in Sanskrit literally means "honoring the light" expressing the desire for ideals, perfection and knowledge of the beautiful.
To give value to all spheres of the cultural world, a special holiday was organized to celebrate the Day of Culture. About how he appeared and for what purpose we will now tell.
International Cultural Day
The history of the holiday takes its roots since the distant 1935, when the so-called Roerich Pact was concluded - the "Treaty on the Protection of Artistic and Scientific Institutions and Historical Monuments" in the presence of US President D. Roosevelt and the heads of 21 countries from all over the Americas.
Years later, in 1998, the International League for the Protection of Culture proposed to mark the date, the signing of the Roerich Pact as a holiday of the International Day of Culture on May 15.
It is interesting that Nicholas Roerich himself was a Russian artist and a great cultural figure of the 20th century. He viewed culture as one of the main driving forces of human society on the road to improvement and believed that with its help people of the whole world of different nationalities and faith can unite in a single whole, but only if they protect and develop it.
Every year, during the celebration of the International Day of Culture and Rest on April 15, many cities of Russia organize solemn concerts, evenings with music, songs, poems and dances. Also on this day, raise the Banner of Peace, congratulate all workers of culture with their professional holiday interesting postcards, gifts and pleasant words.
