How to feed the Decembrist so that it will blossom?

Decembrist - a beautiful and very popular houseplant. It is unusual in that it blooms in the winter, which is why it got such a name. But it often happens that the Decembrist does not want to blossom, despite the correct departure. If you are in this situation, do not despair - as a rule, the Decembrist can help to bloom with the help of some tricks. So, let's find out what to feed the Decembrist so that it will blossom.

How to feed the Decembrist before and during flowering?

Top dressing will give good results if the Decembrist does not want to blossom due to a lack of phosphorus or potassium. Perhaps you have not changed the soil for a long time in the pot, and the supply of nutrients in it is simply exhausted. Winter time is not the best for transplanting plants, so now you can limit yourself to conventional fertilizing, and in the spring, replace the soil with fresh and more nutritious.

For fertilizing, you can use universal fertilizers for cacti, because Decembrist , in fact, is succulent. You can use ready-mixed "Ideal", as well as a solution of mullein or wood ash. Do this twice a month. In the spring-summer period, the plant is fed with nitrogen fertilizers, but in autumn it should not be done, otherwise the Decembrist instead of flowering will only increase the green mass of the leaves. In September, it is desirable to arrange a resting period for the flower - to shorten watering and lower the temperature. And in November-December you will need potassium phosphate fertilizing, which positively affects the budding of buds. Even if the plant regularly pleases you with flowers, it still does not hurt to pre-feed the Decembrist for abundant flowering in advance - the stronger the plant, the more ovaries it gives, and the larger the buds will be. But a month before flowering, top dressing should be stopped.

In addition, for a good flowering, you should provide the plant with suitable conditions (placement in partial shade, cool air in the room, moderate watering, which in autumn is usually shortened, a properly selected pot, etc.).
