A little later, the Japanese hairpins Kanzashi ceased to be just an object to decorate the hairstyle. By the hairpins it was possible to determine to which class the woman belongs, for each event it was allowed to wear only a certain kind of hairpin. Sometimes a scallop or a hairpin cost more than the most gorgeous kimono.
