When is the ADSM conducted?
Most often, this type of vaccination is used to conduct a revaccination. It can be used in children older than 4 years. Before this age, the risk of developing pertussis is high, so vaccination is performed using DTP.
According to the immunization schedule, r2 ADS is vaccinated at 6 years, but not all mothers know what this "r2" in its name is. This letter means carrying out a second vaccination - revaccination, and the figure is its number. Thus, grafting r3 ADSM means the third revaccination, which takes place at 16 years, i.е. 10 years after the date of the previous one.
In some cases, when the baby is painfully tolerated by the introduction of DTP, due to the presence of the pertussis component, vaccination can be performed using ADSM, according to the following schedule:
- 3 months;
- 4,5 months;
- 6 months;
- 1,5 years (revaccination).
At the same time, together with ADSM, a vaccination against poliomyelitis is also carried out.
Which ADSM vaccines are most commonly used today?
In the course of revaccinations in outpatient clinics in the CIS, most commonly used are:
- domestic ADSM;
- imported (Imovax DT Adult);
- monovalent vaccines, i.e. separately from tetanus and separately from diphtheria (AC and AD).
Of all the above, the vaccine imported production is much less likely to cause reactions in children and is more easily tolerated by them.
What is the normal response of the body to the introduction of ADSM?
Any vaccine in its composition contains pathogens in a weakened form, so the body can not help reacting to its administration. In some children this occurs almost imperceptibly, while in others, a violent reaction is observed.
Consequences of the vaccinated ADSM in the child are as follows:
- slight rise in body temperature;
- the appearance of local reactions in the form of seals, redness, pain, swelling, the appearance of light burning or even a feeling of heat at the injection site;
- Occasionally, impaired mobility may develop due to painful sensations in the area of the injection.
In those cases when the baby is very painful to endure the vaccination of ADSM, to facilitate his condition, anti-inflammatory drugs may be taken as prescribed by the doctor.
In addition, the main side effects of the vaccinated ADSM, which do not affect the overall condition of the child, are:
- anxiety;
- diarrhea and vomiting;
- retardation;
- appetite disorder.
All this should not frighten parents; is considered a normal reaction to the vaccine introduced into the child's body.
What are the possible complications of ADSM?
Any complications on carrying out of the given vaccine are observed seldom enough. According to statistics on 100,000 vaccinations conducted, only in 2 there are reactions. Most often it is:
- anaphylactic shock;
hives; - meningitis;
- encephalitis.
When can not I conduct an ADSL?
The main contraindications for vaccination are:
- diseases in acute stage;
- the state of immunodeficiency (immediately after the transferred illness);
- individual intolerance to the vaccine component;
- A stormy reaction to the previous vaccination.
