Gardens of Alfabia

Mallorca is one of the four Balearic islands . Quite often the name "Mallorca" is also used - so the name of the island sounds in Spanish; "Mallorca" is called in the Catalan language, which is on the island state along with the Spanish.

Mallorca is a very popular resort, including not only thanks to the magnificent unspoilt beaches , but also amazing sights. One of the most famous attractions of the island are the gardens of Alfabia - a masterpiece of landscape architecture.

Gardens of Alfabia

The gardens of Alfabia (Mallorca) - this is a whole complex, which includes an old manor and the gardens surrounding it. It is located on the slope of Mount Tramuntana , near the town of Bunyola.

Gardens are completely protected by mountains from the northern winds, so nothing prevents the riot of vegetation. Here, lemons and oranges grow (freshly squeezed juice from which you can taste here, in a nice cafe located directly under the canopy of palm trees), almonds and jasmines, endemic plants - for example, palm trees-garbollons. There are also olive plantations here.

The upper gardens occupy a large area; The main element here is water. A lot of streams, canals and springs in the Arab style not only feed abundant tropical vegetation, but also create a unique atmosphere.

The lower garden is replete with various kinds of palm trees, fountains. There is also a pond in which lilies grow and swans swim.

The manor is led by a shady plane-tree avenue, full of fountains. If desired, you can "freshen up" - fountains are activated by pressing the button located on the column. Rare tourists deny themselves this pleasure!

In the gardens you can even relax with a tent.

The Alfabia Manor is an architectural and historical masterpiece

The Alfabia Manor has existed since the time of Moorish rule in Mallorca - it is mentioned in Arab sources. According to the legend, the owner of the estate is almost the only Arab among them who managed to preserve his estate thanks to the transfer to the side of Jaime I, the conqueror of the island. Since then, the building has been repeatedly rebuilt and completed by all subsequent owners, so that in its appearance the features of Moorish and Gothic styles, Baroque, English Rococo intertwined. The oldest building on the territory of the estate is a massive tower erected in the 16th century - apart from, of course, the house itself, in which you can see the coffered ceilings erected by Arab architects in the 70s of the 12th century.

You will have the opportunity to inspect the decoration of different rooms of the manor, also made in Moorish, Italian, English styles, admire exquisite tapestries and beautiful engravings.
