First aid for cuts

The cut is the damage to the skin due to an acute object. Shallow cuts that affect only the dermis and subcutaneous fat layer do not need special treatment: it is enough to stop the blood and treat the site of damage with an antiseptic. But there are also deep cuts, which are called cut wounds: in this case, it will probably be necessary to help the doctor, since sometimes tendons, muscles, nerves, ligaments and blood vessels are damaged, which can not be restored without a specialist.

Types of cuts

In medicine, cuts are classified according to the subjects that caused the injury:

  1. Sharp and thin objects leave stab wounds. For example, the smallest damage to a stab wound is left by the needle: its diameter is small, but still, the depth can reach several centimeters.
  2. Sharp objects leave cut wounds. To this type of damage is, for example, cut glass: the wound in this case is narrow, but can reach a different length and depth.
  3. Blunt objects leave ripped edges. As a rule, these wounds occur with a strong impact in the bones. In this case, the wound swells and heals for a long time because of uneven edges.
  4. Sharp and blunt objects leave, respectively, combined wounds. They arise from trauma of many parts of the body: for example, in a fall, accident, etc.

How to help the victim: first aid

The first aid for cuts is mainly to clean the wound, stop blood, treat antiseptic and close to protect from the environment.

How do I clean a cut? If the wound is contaminated, then it must be rinsed before treatment. With clean skin, this item can be omitted. Take a sterile bandage or cotton wool, moisten with soap and water (preferably baby), soak the wound, and then rinse it with water.

Than to process a cut for disinfection? Treatment of cuts is necessary to avoid suppuration. After washing the wound, take sterile cotton wool and soak a piece with one of these antiseptics:

  1. Group halogens: sodium hypochlorite, chloramine B, plivasept.
  2. Group of oxidizers: potassium permanganate, hydroperite.
  3. Group of phenols: wagon.

If none of these medications are at hand, then you can use alcohol for processing 96%.

How to stop blood when cut? Strong cuts are accompanied by heavy bleeding, and in this case, doctors need help, but if for any reason, receiving medical care is delayed, then first aid consists in pinching the wound with a piece of sterile bandage or tight bandaging of the wound site.

If not severely cut, it is sufficient to treat the damaged area with hydrogen peroxide 3%.

Than to close a cut? When the blood is stopped, you can begin to close the wound. In place of the cut, a bandage or plaster is applied, which are replaced several times a day. This should be done if the damage is on the arm or leg (especially if on the fingers or feet). In other cases, with minor cuts, it is best to keep them open: so the wound will quickly tighten.

Cutting healing

The day after the cut, you can start using ointments to avoid scars from cuts, and to speed up healing.

The cream "ARGOSULFAN®" helps to speed up the healing of abrasions and small wounds. The combination of antibacterial component of silver sulfatiazole and silver ions provides a wide range of antibacterial action of the cream. You can apply the drug not only to wounds located on open areas of the body, but also under bandages. The agent has not only wound healing, but also antimicrobial action, and besides, it promotes the healing of wounds without gross rumen (1)
