Facade glazing

The decoration of the facades of modern buildings is a creative activity. It's all about the variety of materials used for this. And one of the most original and yet practical of these are modern translucent panels, or simply glass .

Advantages of facade glazing of buildings

  1. Aluminum, used as a frame structure - easy and convenient to use material.
  2. As for glass, special high-strength types are used for facade works, such as, for example, transparent, super-transparent or tinted glass. It is almost impossible to break it, but the design of this facade looks very refined and modern.
  3. The use of aluminum and glass is one hundred percent protection against various climatic influences: moisture, temperature changes and ultraviolet.
  4. Panoramic glazing of the facade provides maximum light in the room. This best affects the design, especially if it requires a particular style of interior (Scandinavian, "New York", ekostyle and others).
  5. Modern double-glazed windows in the required degree provide heat and noise insulation, as well as a high level of fire safety of the building.
  6. Convenience of maintenance and repair work. If necessary, it is possible to replace the double-glazed windows or basic metal structures very quickly, since it is technically not difficult. Very often tenants of apartments, surrendered in a state of "from the builder", order the replacement of cold facade glazing for a warmer one.
  7. Installing translucent panels on the facade of a particular building means that it becomes virtually unique in its appearance. This is facilitated by the use of any color range and varieties of glass, which is successfully used, for example, with stained glass. In addition, various glazing technologies are also used: let's learn more about them.

Types of facade glazing

There are several basic technologies of facade glazing: rack-and-beam, semi-structural and spider.

The rack-and-girder type of glazing is extremely popular today, it is used in most cases. First, a solid metal frame made of aluminum is mounted, and then glass panels are installed in it. Aluminum facade glazing is the least expensive.

Semi-structural glazing makes it possible to make the surface of the facade smooth, without "seams", with improved waterproofing. Collected individual panels are not on the metal profile, but on structural silicone.

The spider system of facade glazing looks like one large glass, not divided by any partitions. In this case, the glass is fixed to each other on the stainless connectors, and the seams are closed with a silicone sealant.

Panoramic and partial types of glazing are different, as is clear from the name, the scale of the works. If the panoramic glazing covers the whole surface of the facade from one or more sides of the house, then the partial, it's stained glass, is performed only in those places of the wall that are provided for by the project of this building. Stained glass glazing fits well with the main exterior walls (it can be brick, natural stone, facade panels, tiles, etc.).

Facade glazing can also differ due to the variety of types and sizes of glazed buildings:

When the facade glazing had just emerged as one of the methods for decorating the facades of residential and other buildings, it was available only to the wealthiest customers. Today, thanks to the constant development and cheapening of construction technologies, it is not so expensive to decorate the facade of the house with the help of translucent panels. This can afford almost anyone who started a major repair.
