History
The airport was opened in 1962 22 km west of the center of Dunedin . At first it was a small air terminal serving short local flights.
The first changes occurred in 1994. In connection with the increased flow of tourists, Dunedin airport was given the status of international airport. Despite the fact that the number of terminals did not change (only one), the capacity of the airport was quite enough to provide international air transportation of passengers and cargo.
By 2005, the area of the main terminal was expanded, and an additional section was added for international flights. To date, Dunedin Airport is the terminal base between the most important air lines connecting New Zealand , Australia and the countries of Asia and Europe.
