Drain in the bath

The construction of a bathhouse is not an easy task, but it is quite affordable for an unprofessional builder. And one of the most important issues is water disposal, which should be properly organized.

Do I need a sink in the bath?

Experienced builders argue that the sink in the bath is needed unambiguously, both in the washing room and in the steam room itself. Refuse the drainage system is possible if the soil on which the bathhouse is built, provides a rapid water withdrawal to the ground. To do this, make a pit and a drainage cushion of rubble and sand. Another prerequisite for a bath with a so-called leaking floor is the rarity of its use (not more than 1 time per month). If the soil on the plot is clayey, it is better to abandon the undertaking with the pit and completely eliminate possible problems. However, if you are going to build a bath on a tiled or banded foundation, the drained water will have a negative impact on it, especially if the family regularly bathes a family of 3-4 people. In 5-7 years it will be necessary to replace the lower crown, the floor, the decayed boards. Therefore, even if the soil allows, the best choice will still be the construction of a well-designed sewage system.

The device of a drain in a bath

Drain water in the bath can be arranged in several ways:

  1. The diversion of water into the central sewerage network is the simplest way. For this, a drain pipe is used, communicating with the city sewer.
  2. The autonomous sewage system with a filtering well, on the contrary, is the most labor-consuming and costly way. Here two tanks with a step filtration system are used, after which the purified water enters the well-settler-a shaft with waterproofing walls and a bottom consisting of several layers of filtering substances. Such a well practically does not need to be pumped out, because the biological substances passed through the filter decompose into component elements over time.
  3. A conventional drain pit excludes the stage of filtration. At the stage of construction of a bath it is necessary to lay a pipe under the slope that will go into the cesspool. Periodically it will need to be pumped out using a sewage machine or use special bacteria to process the contents of such a septic tank .
  4. A horizontal filter cushion is used for a seasonal bath, which will be used extremely rarely. This principle is based on the use of drainage material - broken brick, crushed stone, expanded clay, slag. The drainage layer is filled with a small layer of sand, and a drain pipe is laid on top. Such a pit is designed for a small amount of waste (100 liters or less) and can only be used if you do not grow cultivated plants on your site that can be poisoned with detergent residues from sewage.
  5. There is another way of draining in the bath - the location of the drain pipe right under the washing compartment, from where the water will go to the ground. As we have already said, this option is the last resort, which experts do not recommend to use.

Whichever way you choose, very much important will be a competent floor device in a bath with a sink. It should be located under a slight slope, and the drain hole itself is desirable to do in the lowest place of the room (usually in the corner). In most cases, use a ladder. In addition, be sure to install a hydraulic seal ("water lock"). This will ensure the cleanliness of the air in the bath room, where unpleasant smells from the sewerage will not penetrate. The simplest version of the water seal is a tube bent in the shape of the letter "U". One end, it connects with the drain, and the other - with a pipe leading to the sewer. Today, customers have the opportunity to purchase hydraulic locks manufactured by the factory way. These devices combine both a water lock and a drain funnel.
