Chromis-handsome man

The bright aquarium fish of the Chromis-handsome species always attract attention to themselves due to the pale blue spots-spots, located in even rows, and two large dark green spots against the bright red body. The length of fish chromis-handsome does not exceed 12 centimeters in females and 15 centimeters in males.

Description

The body of the fish is strong, moderately high, the head is slightly pointed, and the mouth is large. Due to its appearance, the fish chromis-handsome is considered one of the most beautiful. When the fish is calm, its fins and corpuscle have an even dark red color. The back is an olive shade, and the abdomen and the lower part of the head are saturated red. Unpaired fins and trunk are dotted with shiny blue spots. On their background there are four round black spots, one of which is the eye. Such markings in the life of males play an important role, since they are fights by nature, and the presence of spots that mimic the eyes, saves from attacks and helps to deceive the opponent. Samochki differ in that their color is more orange-red, and the sparkle of blue color on the body is much smaller.

There is a separate subspecies - neo-chromis-handsome, whose representatives differ in characteristic luminous color.

Contents in the aquarium

As already noted, these beautiful and unusual fish are very evil, unsettling and pugnacious in nature. If the chromis is planted in a common aquarium, then you will observe fights constantly. They will cease only when the chromids destroy all neighbors. That's why experienced aquarists insist that the chromium content of a handsome man in a general "house" is not possible.

Homeland of this type of fish is West Africa, but in the aquarium, comfortable living and even reproduction of the chrome beauty is quite real. The water temperature for fish should be in the range of 22-24 degrees. Chromis handsome enough unpretentious, if you do not take into account the need for separate content. By the way, the only ones with whom the handsome Chromis get along are Hemichromis fasciatus and cichlids of similar size and character. The fact is that cichlids, like the beautiful chrome, are predators. After acquaintance and pritirok fights will come to naught.

Breeding

If you decide to breed chrome beauties, purchase a separate aquarium for a hundred or more liters. It must be maintained at a temperature of 26-28 degrees. In order to spawn successfully, the aquarium should be thoroughly washed, sand removed, and two ceramic pots and several flat stones should be laid sideways, because these fish are lithophilic, that is, the eggs are laid on stones.

After the eggs appear on the stones, which usually are not more than a thousand, the fish begin to actively protect the territory, constantly floating over the future offspring.

For the fries of the beautiful chrome, both parents take care carefully. Fry grows very quickly with proper feeding. When they grow up to one centimeter in length, the parents should be planted. Young chromisies like food, consisting of daphnia, chopped tubule, cyclops. Occasionally they can be given scrambled beef. In six months the young grow to puberty, and the length of the fish is seven centimeters.

Selecting a couple, it should be borne in mind that females are more aggressive than males, so the latter should be large and older in age.

The fish's health is strong enough, but if you notice signs of a handsome man's chromis disease, then raise the water temperature to 32 degrees for one week, and add salt (5 grams per liter) to the water. Aeration will not be superfluous.
