Chaco

The Chaco National Park is located in the province of Argentina , bearing the same name. Its area exceeds 150 square meters. km. The reserve was created to protect the plains stretching to the east of the Chaco region. The average annual precipitation varies from 750 to 1300 mm.

In the east of the park there is a full river Rio Negro . In addition to it, there are practically no water arteries, which are replaced by tiny streams and underground waters. After heavy downpours, swampy lagoons and flooded meadows appear on the territory.

Not far from the reserve are such relatively large settlements as Presidencia-Roque-Saens-Peña and Resistencia . But the reserve itself is not uninhabited: it became the home for the local tribes of tob and mokovi.

Awesome World of Flora and Fauna

The most protected in the park are the Quebracho trees, which are often found on the Chaco photo and reach a height of 15 m. Once they grew in many areas of the country, but because of the stunning strength of the wood and the high content of tannins, uncontrolled felling of trees took place. This led to a critical reduction in their number.

In the park there are several natural attractions:

The most valuable representatives of the flora in the reserve are white quiberach, tabebuya, skhinopsis quiberacho-colorado, prosopis alba. Also in the park grow ant trees with exquisite tender pink or yellow flowers, espina crown, prickly cactus. Palms can be found in the western part of the Chaco, and the trees of the Chonjar have chosen a habitat for the lowland by the river.

From the animal world, there are pumas, monkeys-howler, nosuhi koati, capybaras, whiskeys, tapirs, grivist wolf chako, gray mazam, armadillos, and lakes inhabited by caimans. Tourists will have an amazing chance to admire the black-footed chush and shrub tinam. Near the water, small rodents of Tuko-Tuko often run. In open glades you will find herds of mara, reminiscent of hares with very long legs.

Tourism in the reserve

Travelers can stay in the park in a special area for camping, where there are equipped shower cabins and electricity. Here you can relax after a tiring trip by car and head for a walk to the lagoon of Capricho and Yakare, which are chosen by local waterfowl birds, or to explore the local flora closer.

In the area of the Panza de Cabra lagoon, there are also campsites, but they are designed for a short rest , and not for spending a few nights.
