General information

For the first time these caves are mentioned in the gold seeker Antonia Vala in the first half of the 15th century. He, however, assumed then that the caves were created in an artificial way. His opinion was erroneous, since these are quite natural geological formations.

Since 1884, the caves on Spičaku have been actively explored, maps are being compiled. And only in 1955 they were equipped for excursions . In principle, their appearance has not changed much since that time. A small reconstruction took place only from 2007 to 2010.

What is remarkable, there are many different inscriptions on the walls of the caves. The oldest of these dates back to the 1520s.

Unusual forms of the caves appeared due to the melting of glaciers. For the same reasons, there are several underground lakes here . The walls are covered with stalactites and stalagmites.

Excursion to the caves on Spicaku

The length of the trail for excursions is 230 m. There is a specially equipped entrance for people with disabilities, and for them a special path has been developed, on which there are no stairs and steep ascents. At the entrance to the cave, after descending the stairs, you can see the remains of cave bears. In the future, the excursion simply moves forward, following strictly on the tourist trail. Most of all, transitions from the cave to the cave are amazing, because the openings resemble the heart shape and generally look so neat that one hardly believes in their natural origin. However, it is undeniable.

On the ceiling you can often notice bats. They can be not afraid, to anybody from tourists on heads from above they do not fall.

On the walls of the caves on Spicaku there are many inscriptions in different languages. Basically - Czech, German and French. There is also an interesting picture of two people praying for the cross. The age of this drawing is not exactly established by historians.

In the halls of the caves concerts are sometimes held, and often come here for the sake of unusual photo sessions. For visiting it is best to choose the time from April to October. At this time the caves are open to visitors for all.
