Cathernthorpe

Malmö , Sweden's third largest city, has a progressive, modern look: it has the tallest building in Scandinavia, has many excellent museums and beautiful parks, and the main attraction of the Kingdom is the Øresund Bridge , which connects Sweden to Denmark. Here is also the old farmstead Kathrinthorpe, which we will discuss in more detail later.

Historical facts

Farm Catrinthorpe was founded in 1799 by Swedish baron Robert Beck Friis, and then sold to merchant Samuel Johan Bjorkman. He named the estate Catharinetorp in honor of his wife - Anna Katarina Bagher. He also rented the Petersborg Ranch, which gave its name to the intersection that exists today between the two farms.

Over the years, Cathernthorpe expanded, new structures were built: a cowshed, a shed, a thresher and many others. etc., until the great fire of 1826 destroyed almost the entire estate. Only the main building (residential), the western wing and the eastern wing of the 1st floor could survive. The rest of the buildings were rebuilt over time.

Over the long years of its existence, the estate was replaced by more than 5 owners and even leased (until 1990), and today its historical significance can not be overestimated. In the mid-1990s, reconstruction work began, so that tourists today had the opportunity to see this important landmark with their own eyes.

In the garden vegetables and fruits are grown, from which they then prepare delicious dishes at a local restaurant.
