Castle Princess Oldenburg

Not far from the huge city of Voronezh for more than a century attracted the attention of tourists the castle of the princess of Oldenburg, which has its own history, as well as many secrets and legends.

The history of the castle of Princess Oldenburg in Ramoni

In 1879, the granddaughter of Nicholas I Princess Eugene Maximilianovna Romanovskaya (for her husband - the Princess of Oldenburg) received a wedding gift from his uncle Tsar Alexander II estate in the village of Ramon. Entering the domain and arriving in Ramon, the royal family took up the construction of the farm and in 1887 the construction of the grandiose old-English style building was completed, which became the estate of the couple. The two-storeyed palace of the red brick of the Princess of Oldenburg had a huge living room, a dining room, a ballroom, several classrooms and rooms, and a bedroom for the couple. In addition, the interior of the castle impressed with its luxury: oak doors and stairs, window frames with bronze handles, silk-lined walls and Italian tiles on the fireplaces in each room. Sophistication was given to the creation of blacksmith art - twisted like a thin wriggling vine, a cast-iron fence of balconies and verandas, as well as entrance gates lined up in front of the castle with a tall tower and built-in Swiss clock.

After the October Revolution, the entire royal family was forced to leave the estate and move to France. Since 1917 in the ramon castle of the Princess of Oldenburg, the barracks, the hospital, the school, the plant management etc. were alternately located. Strangely, but during the war the palace was also not destroyed. Fascists, learning about the German roots of the owners of the castle, refused to bomb it, so it became a kind of refuge for local residents.

Since the end of the 70s, the palace was found unfit for exploitation and was closed for restoration, but despite this, it continued to conduct excursions. The final restoration project of the castle was presented by German architects in October 2009, according to which work is carried out to this day.
