Artistic plastering of walls

Decorative plaster always enjoys enormous popularity, not yielding its niche in the construction market to artificial stone, wallpaper, tile or facing panels. It gives designers complete freedom, during the repair work you can radically change the interior, using the widest wealth of colors and textures. A good master is able to create real masterpieces with the help of decorative and artistic plaster, which can replace any oriental carpets or expensive wallpaper brands with the owners.

Composition of modern artistic textured plaster

All the plasters used in our time include fillers, binders and pigments. Previously, as a filler, either marble flour or ground river or quartz sand was used. Now more often for work, they buy ready-made mixtures based on synthetic materials, which, when dried, form a given relief surface.

In ancient times it was rather difficult to work with art plaster for walls. Only natural extracts from broth from berries or leaves of plants were used, even the blood of animals and insects was used. Today pigments are delivered in the form of pastes or powders, so even at home plasterers can easily dilute them at their own discretion.

At the moment, mineral pigments (ocher, malachite, cobalt, lapis lazuli, carbon black, metal powder) and organic are used. Of particular interest are fluorescent additives that can glow in the dark. Note that all the same organic has the least resistance to ultraviolet, so you should take this nuance into account when buying plasters.

Binders can be polymers, as well as components of mineral or organic origin. Natural plasters are usually made on the basis of a calcareous test. Liquid glass is also sometimes used, but it does not work with all pigments. Organic binders are acrylic resins or a more expensive silicone, which is ideal for creating convex bas-reliefs .

Naturally, the technology of work with different types of plaster is slightly different. The most ancient is the artistic Venetian plaster , but you can also use wax plaster, stucco, fibrous, texture, structural, flock, modeling. It is rather difficult to understand all the various ways of working, therefore, it is better to consult with experienced designers and craftsmen before buying a material to choose the most suitable option for your home.
