Fashion for clothes in the style of Art Nouveau appeared in the late nineteenth - early twentieth century. Dresses in this style were preferred by women of almost all social strata. Dresses in the style of Art Nouveau first emphasized the slender waist. With the help of a belt, the woman's figure was divided into two parts. The upper part - with a slight opening on the chest, the bottom - with a flying long skirt. The designers of those times tried to give the female dress an image of a light butterfly or a flower.
