Yes, a visa is needed, but getting it does not cause any special trouble.
Registration at the Tanzanian Embassy
A visa to Tanzania for Russian citizens can be issued at the Tanzanian Embassy, which is located in Moscow. For Ukrainians and Belarusians it is issued here. The whole process of registration takes only 2 working days - of course, with the necessary documents. It:
- a foreign passport with a validity period of at least 6 months;
- visa application form (2 copies);
- color photos 3,5х4,5 (2 pieces).
Getting a visa can be expedited: an express visa to Tanzania is issued for 1 day and costs $ 20 more. Pensioners should also have a copy of the pension certificate, and children - a birth certificate and, if the child travels without a parent (both) - a written permission to leave.

It is clear that getting a visa in the Moscow Embassy of Tanzania for Belarusians, Ukrainians and those residents of the Russian Federation that live far enough from the capital is not a very convenient option. Standard tourist visa has a "shelf life" of 90 days, its cost is 50 USD. You can enter the country and transit visa, but it can stay on the territory of the state no longer than 14 days, however, and it costs only $ 30.
To visit Tanzania, a yellow fever vaccination certificate is not needed, but if you come from a state that requires such a certificate to attend, the Tanzanian border may require it.
