Biliary colic indicates inflammation in the organ itself or ducts that remove bile. In this case, the characteristic of painful sensations and other symptoms are related to the reason why the gallbladder periodically hurts.
Causes of pain in the gallbladder
Painful sensations can appear as a result:
- dyskinesia of the gallbladder;
- the presence of stones;
- chronic or acute form of cholecystitis ;
- oncology of the organ or bile ducts.
Painful symptoms in the gallbladder
Difficulties with excretion of bile or dyskinesia of the gallbladder are accompanied by acute, or, on the contrary, dull pain in the zone of the right hypochondrium. Secondary signs are:
- diarrhea;
- constipation;
- loss of appetite.
When the gallbladder hurts, the symptoms in women can cause problems such as a decrease in sexual activity, as well as a violation of the menstrual cycle.
Gallstone disease is manifested by acute pain in the zone of the right hypochondrium. Painful sensations last for several hours, sometimes days. Pain can irradiate:
- in the neck;
- in the right scapula;
- in the right shoulder;
- in the left side of the chest.
Gradually, the pain is localized in the zone of the gallbladder. Attacks of nausea and indomitable vomiting are attributed to secondary signs.
Cholecystitis provokes the appearance of unexpected acute pain in the right upper abdomen. If the patient takes an anesthetic drug, the symptom calms down for a while. However, there is a gradual increase in pain after vomiting and a rise in temperature.
Oncology of the gallbladder is extremely rare and the diagnosis of pathology is difficult due to the similarity of symptoms with other organ diseases. Note:
- feverish condition;
- attacks of nausea and vomiting;
- yellowness of the skin and mucous membranes;
- bloating .
However, the main symptom is pain in the right upper quadrant, where the gallbladder is located.
