Sores in the child's tongue

No Mom, no matter how inexperienced, will never miss the appearance of sores in the child's mouth, as these sores immediately make themselves felt. It hurts to eat, drink, talk, and in many cases just keep quiet. The child will complain, and if he does not know how to speak, he will often cry. Such rashes in the mouth are called stomatitis - these are yellowish-white or red sores, which can be on the tongue or on the inner surface of the cheeks, the sky or even the larynx.

Causes of appearance and types of stomatitis

1. Aftous stomatitis

There are several forms of stomatitis in medicine. The most common among children and adults is aphthous stomatitis. The exact reasons for its appearance are not known. But there is an approximate list of factors that affect its occurrence:

Treatment

In order to cure ulcers in the tongue and in the oral cavity it is necessary:

These two actions are best performed as often as possible, then stomatitis will be faster. If it causes severe pain, then, as an anesthetic, you can periodically use children's gels, which relieve pain with teething.

2. Herpetic or herpes stomatitis

Very infectious form of stomatitis, which occurs in children aged 1 to 3 years. The reason for the appearance of this form of stomatitis is the herpes simplex virus. The mouth can have up to 100 quickly bursting small sores. Very often, herpes stomatitis occurs not only in the mouth, but also on the surface of the lips. In addition to sores, fever and lymphatic enlargement are also possible. To treat herpetic stomatitis, it is necessary to consult a pediatrician.

3. Candidiasis stomatitis

The weakest link for this type of rash is the children of the first year of life. The cause of candidal stomatitis is fungi of the genus Candida. In the tongue and mucous membrane of the oral cavity, the itchy sores appear with a strong white and yellow coating covering the bleeding wounds. Also, in addition to ulcers, candidal stomatitis is characterized by a white coating on the tongue, gums and the inner surface of the child's lips.

Treatment

  1. Treat the sores with an anesthetic gel and feed the baby.
  2. A cheesecloth with an antifungal drug (nystatin or fluconazole) applied on it, go through the wound, while removing the white coating.

These procedures are carried out 3-4 times a day, and then try to withstand a half-hour pause before feeding.

If stomatitis occurs more than once a month and is treated longer than 7-10 days, then this is a good reason to consult a doctor, regardless of age, whether it is a baby or an adult.
