Secondary infertility in women

Two types of female infertility are divided: primary and secondary.

Primary infertility is the lack of opportunity to conceive a child throughout life.

Secondary infertility is the lack of possibility to conceive a child after abortion, ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, or after the birth of the first child. The causes of secondary infertility in women may be the consequences of abortion, intoxication, infection, sexually transmitted diseases, etc.

Below we will consider in more detail the most probable causes of secondary infertility and methods of treatment.

The causes of secondary infertility in women:

1. Decline in fertility in women. Women at the age of 30 years experience a decline in fertility, and by the age of 35, fertility is starting to drop so rapidly that 25% of women at this age are infertile. Many women are unaware of this danger and postpone the birth of a child to the age of 30-35.

It should be noted that the most favorable period for pregnancy in women begins with 15 to 30 years. It is during this period that the woman has the greatest fertility.

2. Hyperfunction of the thyroid gland. Quite often, secondary infertility can occur with thyroid hyperfunction. Because of the increased production of thyroid hormones, the production of pituitary hormones decreases, which directly affect the production of female sex hormones. Subsequently, there is a violation of the menstrual cycle, there is a risk of developing endometriosis, uterine fibroids, as well as polycystic ovary syndrome. These factors have a direct effect on pregnancy and the ability to bear a healthy fetus.

3. Hypofunction of the thyroid gland. Hypofunction of the thyroid gland in women can also lead to secondary infertility. This is due to the fact that due to increased production of pituitary hormones, the production of hormones of the ovaries is suppressed, as a result of which normal processes of fertilization and gestation are violated.

Treatment of the thyroid gland, aimed at normalizing its functions, will lead to the onset of a long-awaited pregnancy. But the use of hormonal drugs during treatment can adversely affect the health of the mother and the future child.

4. Gynecological diseases. The cause of secondary infertility may be inflammatory diseases of the fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix, vagina.

All of the above diseases are directly related to the process of fertilization and pregnancy. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is a sign of endocrinological disorders that determine and accompany female infertility.

Cure infertility can be achieved with the help of special therapy aimed at the underlying disease.

5. Complications after abortions. Incorrect or unskilled abortions can also lead to secondary infertility in women. Gynecologic curettage irreparably damages the entire layer of the endometrium, as a result of which the follicles safely ripen and fertilize, but the uterus can not attach to them.

The chances of re-pregnant with a woman with such complications are minimal.

6. Postoperative and traumatic injuries of the perineum. The presence of hidden scars, adhesions, polyps, which are the result of injuries and surgeries, can lead to secondary infertility. But fortunately, these problems are often safely resolved.

One of the causes of secondary infertility can also be attributed to malnutrition, general debilitating diseases, and chronic intoxication.

Malnutrition, frequent use of diets, over time, can make it impossible to conceive a second time.

Be careful, and take care of your body!
