Pulpit - treatment

Pulpitis is an inflammation of the pulp of the tooth. The pulp is a ball of nerves and vessels that are responsible for the pain and nutrition of the tooth. Pulpitis develops most often because of untreated caries or because of incorrect treatment of the tooth. Treatment of pulpitis depends on the nature of the flow (acute or chronic).

Only a doctor can determine how to treat pulpitis. In acute patient pulpitis, the strongest pain in the tooth, as well as the pain when getting on the tooth of various stimuli - hot / cold, sweet / sour / salty, is the most troubled. Pain can be given in the temple, forehead, neck. Closer to the night, the pain often intensifies. Since the treatment of pulpitis in the home is unrealistic - when you have similar symptoms, it is better to go straight to the dentist.

Methods of treatment of acute pulpitis

Treatment of acute pulpitis depends on the form. Serous or traumatic forms of acute pulpitis in people younger than 30 years (without chronic diseases) can be cured conservatively. This method consists in applying a bandage with antibiotics for several days under a temporary seal. The use of antibiotics in pulpitis is necessary to relieve inflammation in the pulp. Then the medical bandage is removed and a gasket with calcium preparations is placed under the permanent seal. This helps to restore the dentin - the tooth tissue, which is located between the pulp and enamel.

The purulent form of the pulpitis is characterized by an almost constant pulsating severe pain, which is intensified from the hot and somewhat calms down from the cold. And also swelling of the mucous membrane around the tooth. Treatment of purulent pulpitis consists of a surgical method and begins with an anesthetic injection. Then the dentist removes the damaged tissues of the pulp, rinses the root canals of the tooth and puts an anti-inflammatory substance in them for several days. At the second stage the doctor carefully cleans the tooth canals, seals them, and then restores the shape of the crown with a filling.

Methods of treatment of chronic pulpitis

Treatment of chronic pulpitis is also carried out surgically and depends on the form. Chronic fibrous pulpitis is a consequence of an untreated acute and proceeds with weak aching pain and a reaction to a change in temperature. Treatment of chronic fibrous pulpitis begins with the setting of a special devitalizing paste, which kills the pulp, after which the channels are cleaned, washed and sealed.

Gangrenous pulpitis is distinguished by complaints of discomfort in the tooth, pain from hot and bad breath. Treatment of gangrenous pulpitis is no different from other forms and is carried out according to general rules.

At pregnancy to suffer it is not necessary

What to do if the pulpitis developed in a pregnant woman? There are no problems - modern anesthetics allow you to treat pulpitis during pregnancy without any risk to the fetus. And to treat such a disease is absolutely necessary. In addition to pain, pulpitis is dangerous for the development of complications - periodontitis. It appears as a consequence of the penetration of microorganisms through the tooth into bone tissue.
