Park of the League of Arab States


The largest park Casablanca , called the Park of the League of Arab States, was defeated in 1918 by the French architect L. Laprad. The park is a pride and a favorite place of rest not only for the local population, but also for tourists who want to relax from excursions under the scorching sun.

Architecture and features of the park

The Arab League Park is an open space with many palm trees, lawns and flower beds. The park architecture successfully combines European traditions (straight paths with straight angles, numerous secluded corners in the shade of trees) and oriental color (the richest flower beds, palms, ficus, etc.).

Here, in addition to the plants well known to Europeans, plants typical for the east are also present: date palms, collected in alleys, rare varieties of flowers, and many arcades and arbors surround this beauty. The main attractions of the park are a beautiful pond, where you can admire the flowering pink water lilies seasonally, a palm alley crossing the park from one end to the other, and a fountain decorating the center of the Arab League park.

What to see and do in the park?

In the northwest of the Arab League Park in Casablanca is the Sacré-Coeur Cathedral . The structure was erected in 1930 on the project of the Frenchman Paul Tornon, in the outline of the cathedral the motives of European Gothic architecture, Arabic and Moorish elements are read. Currently, for its intended purpose, the cathedral does not function and is closed to visitors, but on occasion of city holidays its doors sometimes open.

On the territory of the park, several cafes and restaurants of traditional Moroccan cuisine are waiting for their visitors, the prices in which are very democratic, and the offered menu will please with its variety, if desired, you can take drinks and food with you to have a picnic. There is an amusement park "Yasmin" for children, where there are not so many attractions, but kids will definitely like the trains, carousels, cars, swings and slides.

How to get there and when to visit?

You can reach one of the most beautiful parks of Morocco by tram, the necessary stop is called Station Tramway Place Mohamed V, or by taxi from a convenient place, it is better to agree on the cost of the trip in advance.

The park is open around the clock, but we advise you to visit it in the daytime, the entrance to the park is free. The Yasmin amusement park is open from 10.00 to 19.00, the entrance fee is 150 MAD.
