Monument to the fighters of the 1905 revolution in Riga - description

The above-mentioned monument is a sculptural composition dedicated to revolutionary events that took place in January 1905. The monument is an expressive two-figure statue in which one young man picks up a flag dropping from the hands of his friend and continues to carry both him and the guy who was seriously injured during the demonstration. The monument is made in the best traditions of socialist realism. The author of the sculpture, Albert Terpilovsky, managed to make the monument dynamic, thereby not only giving it a significant symbolic load, but also organically incorporating it into the city landscape.

As a material for the monument, granite and bronze were used. The grand opening took place in 1960, at the same time it received the status of an art monument of republican significance. In the half-century anniversary, in 2010, the sculpture was removed from the granite pedestal and sent to the restoration. However, in 2011 the monument was again returned to its usual place.
