Meryl Streep responded to the accusations of Rose McGowan in concealing the harassment of Weinstein

Yesterday, users of the social network Twitter, as well as fans of American actress Rose McGowan, it became known that the 44-year-old movie star wrote a very uneasy post addressed to Meryl Streep. In it, she accuses the legendary actress in harboring the obscene behavior of the famous film producer Harvey Weinstein. However, the answer from the 68-year-old Strip did not keep itself waiting and a few hours ago a small note appeared on the pages of the foreign publication.

Meryl explained her actions

Yesterday, in her open post, Rose McGowan accused Streep that, with her silence, Meryl covers the sexual harassment of Harvey Weinstein, which the whole world is now talking about. The letter was so harsh and accusatory that Meryl was silent and McGowan answered, expressing her version of what had happened:

"I'm sorry that it happened, but I did not know about Harvey's harassment. I do not cover it in any way and I do not think that his behavior can be justified. I repeat once again that I did not know that Weinstein wanted women. I never approved of violence and I will never be on the side of those who offend girls and women. Working with such actresses as me, Harvey managed to buy the trust of young girls, and it hurts me from that. Weinstein managed to convince the public that he only wants from actresses - participation in his films and no more. I am very sorry that I was able to form the opinion of the public that I encourage such behavior as Harvey. "

After that, Strip told how she tried to talk with McGowan:

"After I read this post on Twitter, I immediately began to look for the phone number of Rose. Quite quickly I found him, but I did not manage to talk to her. I really want her to read this letter of mine. I want to tell her that I am not her enemy and I will never be her. We are both women who must confront such evil as sexual harassment. I know that there are people who are quite influential, who are trying to get our society back in the old days, when they did not consider the opinion of the woman. However, I am also confident that if we all struggle with this evil, then we can win. A woman should not go on about the desires of a man. A woman should have respect for herself, her desires and her actions. "

Will there be a protest at the Golden Globe Awards?

Recall, the whole story, which is now developing between McGowan and Strip, was the result of Meryl's desire, along with other actresses, to organize a kind of protest against the "unproven" harrament, coming to the Golden Globe awards ceremony in black dresses. In this behavior, Rose saw the desire of Meryl to stand up for Harvey Weinstein, whom McGowan accused several months ago of sexual harassment. It was after this that discussions began in social networks about whether Meryl Streep would dare now with his like-minded people to wear black outfits in defense of the "unproven" harassment.

68-year-old Meryl Streep, in contrast to her younger colleague Rose McGowan, is friendly with the scandalous film producer Weinstein. In addition, she worked with him in 2 scenes: "August" and "Iron Lady."
