Iodinol is a drug in the form of a solution that contains the following components: molecular iodine, potassium iodide, polyvinyl alcohol. It is a dark blue liquid with iodine odor, soluble in water. The main property of the medication is antiseptic, while the most active is in the following microorganisms:

- E. coli;
- fungal microflora;
- causative agents of anthrax and others.
Iodinol has little effect on staphylococci and practically does not affect the Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
