Granulocytes are leukocytes that contain a grain inside, consisting of small parts filled with active components. They appear in the bone marrow from the corresponding germ. Presented as three main types: basophils, neutrophils and eosinophils. To determine the indicators, the relevant analyzes are submitted. In the event that granulocytes are lowered, it may mean that the virus is spreading in the body, or there are pathologies of blood. In any case, all this requires the appointment of special therapy.
Granulocytes in the blood are lowered - what does this mean?
Usually such test results speak of autoimmune diseases. Often the reason can safely be considered a decrease in the number of eosinophils, which is why the effectiveness of the immune system decreases. Usually this happens in certain diseases:

- rheumatism;
- lupus ;
- hepatitis;
- leukemia;
- anemia.
Sometimes the lowered results can be connected with reception of certain medicines - antibiotics, sulfonamides and antineoplastic.
Immature granulocytes are lowered - what does this mean?
A low amount of these components in the blood usually indicates:
- lead poisoning;
- radiation sickness ;
- lupus;
- arthritis.
The change in the number of immature granulocytes in any line indicates a serious pathology occurring in the body. That is why in no case should one do self-medication, as this will only lead to a worsening of the condition. Therapy is prescribed, based on the latest tests, the patient's condition and some other indicators.
It is important to clarify that when donating blood, the absence of any granulocytes is considered a normal condition. In this case pregnant and lactating women, as well as newborn babies fall under the exception.
