Fractures of the hand - a very common phenomenon. They account for more than 30% of all injuries. Such indicators can be explained very simply - the hands take an active part in various spheres of human life, so they account for the bulk of all the loads. And accordingly, they suffer most often.

Symptoms of a fracture of the hand

To earn a trauma it is possible anywhere - and in a life, and on training, and on manufacture. The manifestations of the fracture may vary depending on which bone is broken - and there are 22 of them in the brush - and how seriously the damage is:

  1. With a fracture of the scaphoid bone, there is edema on the arm. The person is tormented by pain, which is intensified by brush movements, and all attempts to squeeze a hand into a fist are not crowned with success.
  2. Injuries of metacarpal bones are characterized by pain, Bennett's symptom and the inability to completely bend the thumb.
  3. If the semilunar bone is damaged, soft tissues near the wrist joint swell. Of course, among the symptoms of such a bone fracture there can be no pain. It arises mainly when the fingers are compressed into a fist. The pain syndrome in the III and IV fingers is concentrated.

Common symptoms include the inability to move your fingers, blueing the brush. If the injury is difficult, the hand may be deformed. The general condition usually remains normal and worsens only in particularly difficult cases.

Treatment of a fracture of the hand

In case of fractures, first aid is very important:

  1. If necessary, stop the bleeding . To do this, apply pressure bandages of gauze or fabric.
  2. The next important stage of treatment of a fractured hand with displacement is removal of the edema. It is best to do this with ice.
  3. If there are ornaments on the hand, they should be removed as soon as possible. Otherwise, with swelling, they can transmit blood vessels and disrupt blood flow.
