Fertilizers for currants in autumn

Black currant in autumn requires compulsory fertilization, because during the season it draws practically all useful substances out of the soil, and next year it needs new forces for flowering and fruiting. In order to provide the plant with all the necessary chemical elements and organic substances for normal wintering and spring awakening, it is necessary to supplement feeding with autumn.

What fertilizers to bring in the fall with currants?

There are a number of compulsory fertilizers for application under the bushes of currants from autumn. They include:

  1. Organics (humus, compost, manure, bird droppings). Every perennial plant needs this component. Introduce organic top dressing for each bush, laying out in a radius of 50 cm from the bush and dusting with ashes. For each plant, 200 g of fertilizer is sufficient.
  2. Superphosphate. It is placed on top of an organic fertilizer in the amount of 100 g per each bush. Then all this is carefully dug. Above, you can additionally cover with humus.
  3. Also in the fall you can use liquid mineral fertilizers for the currant. To do this, in 10 liters of water you need to dissolve 20 g of phosphorus and 10 g of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers. The norm of watering with such fertilizer is 10 liters per each bush.
  4. Sideratnoe fertilizer. Alternatives to bird droppings and other types of fertilizer are siderative crops such as peas, lupins and vetch. In the spring they are planted between the beds, and in autumn they mow and lay out currant under the bushes, covering the ground.
  5. Foliar top dressing is done by spraying bushes with a solution of 5 g of potassium permanganate, 3 g of boric acid and 40 g of copper sulfate dissolved in 10 liters of water.
  6. Traditional methods of fertilizing the currant: infusion of potato peelings or bread residues. Give these infusions to wander, and then lay them in the furrows around the bush. Berries next year will be large and juicy.
