Fertility test

When a couple wants to have a baby, there may be a need for a home fertility test, or a study of the physiological ability of future parents to reproduce. There are several varieties of similar tests, some of which are for men only, and others are for women only.

Fertility test for men

The test for male fertility, which can be carried out at home, is designed to assess the density of semen after collection in a special container. As a result of such a study, it is possible to detect the concentration of spermatozoa in the collected material, which indirectly demonstrates the ability of the future father to fertilize.

In fact, such a test is not very informative. In some cases, men have low fertility even with a large number of spermatozoa in the semen, and vice versa. To assess the ability of a young person to conceive in this case, a detailed study of his sperm and the detection of the speed and motility of spermatozoa, which is conducted exclusively in the conditions of a medical institution, will be required.

A home test for a woman's fertility

Tests for the determination of fertility for women have 2 varieties:

Tests to determine the concentration of follicle-stimulating hormone. If there are a large number of eggs in the body of the woman, which in the near future should ripen and go out, its level remains rather low. When there are fewer and fewer ovaries in the ovaries, the concentration of FSH gradually increases. Thus, the test for the level of follicle-stimulating hormone helps determine the overall fertility of the future mother and reveal the moment when it stops.

Tests to determine the level of luteinizing hormone. High concentration of LH is necessary for the release of a mature egg from the ovary. Normally, its level rises a few days before the onset of ovulation and remains high enough for 1-2 days after its completion.

Such tests can give an idea of the fertility of women at the time of their conduct and allow you to determine how high the probability of conception on the day of the study.
