Excretion from the mammary glands under pressure

Normally, excretions from the mammary glands under pressure do not occur very often, but do not necessarily mean any pathology, since the breast has a secretory function. In this case, the secret comes through the same ducts, through which milk flows during lactation. However, the reasons for its isolation from the mammary glands under pressure should still be clarified in order to eliminate the danger to the woman's health. Let's consider the major factors causing such a state.

Types of excretions from the mammary glands under mechanical influence

Any discharge from the mammary glands that appear when pressing, differ not only in quantity but also in color, and sometimes also have an unpleasant odor. They can be caused by a variety of reasons: from taking antidepressants to hormonal therapy and considerable physical exertion. Let's list the most important of them:

  1. Ectasia of milk ducts. Most often this disease affects women in the pre-menstrual period - from 40 to 50 years. In this case, the inflammatory process takes place in one or several dairy ducts, as a result of which, when exerting pressure, there are green discharges from the mammary glands (in some cases, their shade is close to black).
  2. Intra-flow papilloma. Such a diagnosis is often put on the fair sex at the age of 35-55 years. It is characterized by blood discharge from the breast that appears when pressing. Papilloma is a small benign formation that overlaps the lumen of the milk duct. Sometimes in the area of the nipple it is possible to probe a small tumor. Treatment of the disease begins only after the tests: breast ultrasound and examination of the discharge from the nipple. This is necessary to distinguish the papilloma from a malignant tumor, in which the appearance of a bloody secretion is also possible. However, often in the case of an oncological diagnosis, there are also dark secretions from the mammary glands that are noticeable when pressing on the nipple.
  3. Galactorrhea. With this disease, you are most likely to encounter yellow discharge from the mammary glands, manifested with a slight pressure. Often it occurs in nursing mothers, in whom the level of prolactin - the hormone responsible for the production of breast milk - in the blood simply rolls over. This condition is due to a violation of the hormonal balance in the body due to poor thyroid function, the use of contraceptives or a pituitary tumor. Sometimes the symptom of galactorrhea is also the brown discharge from the mammary glands under pressure.
  4. Mechanical trauma of the chest. In most cases, it has no serious consequences. However, if you notice with transparent pressure from the mammary glands, which in principle are considered physiological, mammograms still do not interfere.
  5. Lactation. When you feed your baby with milk, when pressing in the area of the nipple you will see white discharge from the mammary glands, which is considered absolutely normal. You should worry if you are not pregnant, do not put the baby to your chest or the secret of white color continues to ooze after 5 months after the lactation. In addition, improper eating or taking medication can lead to bitter secretions from the chest glands with pressure, so new mums should be careful with this.
  6. Mastitis. With improperly organized natural feeding in the tissues of the breast, an abscess develops. Therefore, when pressing, you will see purulent discharge from the mammary glands, which can be very abundant, accompanied by a high temperature and a serious threat.
