Elizabeth II and her family - how did they celebrate the Commonwealth's Day of the monarchy?

On March 14, Great Britain celebrated the Commonwealth Day. On this day, the royal family attends the Commonwealth service in Westminster Abbey. Typically, the event begins in the afternoon and attracts a large number of not only UK residents, but tourists from all over the world.

Monarchs and guests of the holiday

The first photographers to capture were Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry. The young people were in high spirits that did not remain without the attention of the public. They walked quickly towards the cathedral where Prince Philip was already. Over time, Prince Andrew joined them, and the whole family began to wait for the queen. Her arrival did not take long to wait: Elizabeth II drove up to the cathedral a few minutes after her family had gathered. Despite the fact that this year she will celebrate her 90th birthday, the queen looked great. She was wearing a coat and a sky-blue hat.

In addition to members of the royal family, representatives of the 53 countries that are members of the Commonwealth visited the festival. In addition to them, the famous singer Elli Golding, who sang songs at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as David Cameron, former British Prime Minister John Major, Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary-General and many others, were invited to the service.

Many people performed at the service, but at the very end the Queen of Great Britain rose to the podium. "The greatest value is wisdom and mutual respect for each other. One of the first words that can be read in the Charter of the Commonwealth states that we are all the people of the Commonwealth who are able to build and form a successful and prosperous world, "Elizabeth II said in her speech.

The service ended with a small concert by Elli Golding, raising the flag of the Commonwealth and communicating with the royal family with the inhabitants of Great Britain.
