Dolomites, Italy

In the three provinces of north-eastern Italy, Belluno, Bolzano and Trento there is a mountain range called the Dolomites. Their length is almost 150 km, includes 17 peaks over 3 km in height and the highest point is the Marmolada glacier (3345 m). They are from different sides limited by river valleys: Brenta, Adige, Izarko, Pusteria and Piave.

Natural processes created bizarre landscapes: vertical cliffs, bare cliffs, narrow valleys, snowfields, several dozen glaciers, mountain lakes. In 2009, the Dolomites of Italy were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as a region of exceptional natural beauty, as well as aesthetic and geological importance.

How to get to the Dolomites?
