Diving in the Crimea

The Crimean peninsula has long attracted not only beach lovers, but also extreme lovers of scuba diving. Of course, comparing the bottom landscapes of the Black Sea with Australian, Egyptian , Maldivian or Tunisian - it's ungrateful, but here you can find interesting places for immersion.

Diving in the Crimea is offered nowadays by numerous thematic clubs. Thanks to tectonic faults and numerous volcanic eruptions that in the past have changed the relief of the depths, there are plenty of diving sites in the Crimea. And in recent years, extreme people prefer simple river diving - diving, that is, the study of sunken objects in the sea. The fact is that the Black Sea bottom is literally strewn with sunken military, passenger and merchant ships lying at different depths (from 15 to 100 and more meters). So, let's consider popular places for diving in the Crimea.

Chernomorsky district

The Tarkhankut peninsula, which is the westernmost point of the Crimea, is perhaps the most interesting place for divers. Here on the sea bottom of the extremals waiting for different in type and age anchors, laid out at fifteen-meter depth in a logical sequence. Diving in this part of the Crimea (near the lighthouse at Cape Tarkhankut) includes a visit to the museum of marine rarity designs.

After visiting the Alley of anchors, you can explore the bottom at Cape Aya, strewn with boulders of natural origin of bizarre shapes. They lie at a depth of 6-8 meters. Underwater rock, which hangs over the bottom, tickles the nerves.

Not far from the boulders is Catherine's grotto, whose depth is 9 meters. There is an underwater freshwater source. When fresh water mixes with sea water, an interesting visual effect arises - the spectacle is unforgettable!

Do not bypass, or rather not swim, the side of the diver and the cave of the Dragon, named so because of the shape that resembles outlines this mythical creature. Near the cave you can see the so-called Lost World - a cluster of grottoes and stones. To see the Lost World, you will have to descend to an 18-meter depth.

Cape Fiolent

This place is the most beautiful in the Sevastopol surroundings. The relief of the seabed here is unique, and the water is crystal clear. Attention deserves the Grotto of Diana (12 meters), the foundations of the cliffs of Pilate and Orestes. There are also fragments of sunken ancient ships. The fullness of the landscape is given to fish and crabs, which are huge! It should be noted that diving in this part of the Crimea requires preliminary training, as the currents can be strong, and this is a direct threat to life.

Cape Khersones

The bottom around the Chersonesus lighthouse is an outstanding place for immersing novices. The currents here are weak, and the inhabitants of the sea are pleased with their diversity and abundance. A more interesting and difficult option is to dive in the area of ​​the Ancient Port. The picture is amazing: pure sand, clear water and numerous fragments of pottery from the times of Ancient Greece, which are not less than two thousand years old. Attention divers also deserve Omega Bay, Cossack Bay, 35 Battery and Sinister Rocks.

South coast - Swallow's Nest

Straight from the ledges of the rock at the foot of the famous Swallow's Nest dive into the water lovers of cliff diving , a very spectacular sport that gathers a lot of spectators and who want to try their hand at this art.

Diving is not a cheap pleasure. For example, in Olenivka (Crimea, Black Sea region) for one hour of diving you will have to pay about 20 dollars (150 hryvnia). However, the cost of diving in the Crimea includes a training course with experienced instructors, the rental of equipment necessary for immersion. If you have experience, and the equipment was taken with you, then in the diving centers you will be provided with a number of additional services (refueling of air tanks, rental of dive boats, etc.).
