Dishwasher in the cupboard

More and more often people try to design the kitchen on their own, make it as comfortable as possible for themselves and corresponding to the available room parameters. In this case, in addition to the color of the material for the furniture, the owners will have to decide the question with other attributes in the kitchen. In this article we will talk about the dryer for the dishes in the closet, what they are of the sizes and types, and also where they are best placed.

Varieties of dryers for dishes in the cupboard

By the type of installation, dishwashers in the cabinet are built-in, hinged and stand-alone ( desktop ). The first two species are more often used than the latter, since their fixation within the walls of the cabinet ensures greater safety of the dishes.

Most often in the cabinets are installed built-in dish dryers, which are the mesh on which the dishes are mounted, and a tray, where water is collected, which drains from the dishes. They can be rigidly fixed (attached to the side walls) and retractable (mounted on special skids).

Since corner furniture is becoming more popular, in addition to the standard rectangular models, there are also corner dish dryers in the cabinet, which can be made in the form of a triangle or as a right angle.

By functionality, dishwashers are divided into: one-level (only for plates), two-level (for plates and mugs) and multifunctional. It depends on how many departments for different types of dishes in it are available.

Such dryers are made of various materials. This directly affects their cost, weight and durability. Plastic attract buyers with their colors and low cost, but they will have to be changed more often. Metal is more durable, but on condition that they are coated with an anti-corrosion layer. The most popular are stainless steel dryers, which are easy to clean and at the same time look good in almost any interior (especially in modern style).

Dimensions of dish dryers in the cabinet

Most often, manufacturers of dish dryers are guided by the dimensions of standard (factory) furniture. Their width can be 40, 50, 60, 70 or 80 cm. You should choose the fittings based on this indicator, that is, in a 60 cm cabinet you need to take a dish dryer "60 cm".

In which cabinet to install a dish dryer?

Most conveniently, if the place where the dishes will dry, is directly above the sink or very close to it. Thanks to the fact that the hostess will not have to do unnecessary movements (tilt or go somewhere), the washing-up process will be easier. There is an option of installing a dryer in the cupboard above the sink without a bottom, in this case the water will drain directly into the sink and no need to install a sump.

To install the dryer it is not recommended to choose floor cabinets, as when folding and getting the dishes you will have to bend a lot, which is not very good.

When installing a dishwasher in a cabinet, it is very important to follow several recommendations:

  1. Presence of ventilation. To there were no unpleasant smells and the dishes dried up faster, good air circulation is necessary. To ensure this, it is possible to drill two holes from the sides.
  2. Observance of distances. It is very important that the distance from the grid where the plates are installed to the top or the next shelf should be at least 30 cm. A minimum of 6-7 cm should be kept from the bottom of the dryer to the bottom.
  3. Tightness of the bottom wall of the cabinet. In order not to damage the kitchen set, it is better to treat under the tray with special sealants (for example: silicone), which will protect the material from moisture.
