Usually the ceiling cornice looks like a flat tire, which is fastened directly to the ceiling: normal, suspended or tensioned. The cornice for the suspended ceiling simultaneously performs two functions: both practical and aesthetic. Curtains or tulle often hang on such cornices, and additional lighting can be installed on them. And, of course, a beautiful ceiling cornice for stretch ceilings serves as an ornament of any interior.
Types of cornices for stretch ceilings
Depending on the method of attachment, ceiling cornices for tension ceilings are of two types:
- cornices for curtains;
- cornices for lighting.
In addition, the cornices are visible and invisible. They can be made of aluminum, steel, plastic or wood. Let's take a closer look at these types of cornices.
Cornices for curtains on the ceiling
Everyone knows that the stretch ceiling is located below the slab. This means that installation of the cornice will need to be given more attention, moreover during the installation of the suspended ceiling itself, and not during the attachment of the eaves.
Before you start pulling on the ceiling, in place of future fixing the cornice, you need to install a special wooden bar, to which the cornice will subsequently be fastened. The length of this bar should be equal to the length of the cornice, and its thickness - a little less than the distance from the ceiling to the stretched ceiling. That is, this bar should be hidden behind the stretch ceiling.
On a stretched ceiling linen, it is necessary to carefully mark the places intended for fixing the cornice. In order to prevent the film from tearing, special rings of PVC film or thin plastic are glued in places where the cornice is attached. Now it remains in the marked places to gently burn small holes and attach the cornice directly over the stretched ceiling. This version of the visible fixing of the ceiling cornice is most simple in execution and is used quite often.
Another version of the installation - an invisible ceiling curtain rod for curtains. At the same time the cornice is hidden behind the stretch ceiling. Especially beautiful look down the curtains next to the gloss stretch ceiling. This kind of eave for a stretch ceiling is usually attached to the main ceiling. The profile for the suspended ceiling should be installed on a wooden bar with a length equal to the length of the wall. Thus, the effect of the curtains streaming from the ceiling is obtained. And although the installation of such an invisible cornice is a bit more complicated than the previous one, but from the position of design this option is more attractive.

Cornices for LED ceiling lighting
Today, increasing popularity is gaining incomprehensible ceiling lighting. For this, special cornices and LED strip are used, the lamps of which are evenly distributed around the perimeter of the eaves. They can be made of plastic, MDF or even wood. The room in this case is illuminated by light reflected from the ceiling, which seems to float in the air. At the same time, the room space visually becomes wider due to such illumination.
Ceiling cornices for lighting can be installed both along the perimeter of the entire ceiling, and in special niches for lighting. Light because of such cornices can be directed to the ceiling and down.
Cornices for decorating the ceiling and decorating the LED backlight can be smooth or decorated with a variety of ornaments. If you decide to use the color lighting of the ceiling, then it is more suitable smooth, discreet cornices.
The advantages of polyurethane cornices include the fact that they are fireproof. In addition, they can easily be bent if the room has rounded corners or you decorate the round ceiling.
