Coetown


The ancient town of Miau-U (Mrauk-U), founded in 1431, has preserved many cultural, religious and architectural attractions, one of which is the complex of the Coetown pagodas, which annually attracts many pilgrims and tourists from all over the world.

Coetown was founded by King Dickha in Myanmar between 1553 and 1556 years. The name of the complex is closely related to the number of Buddha images adorning Coetown, and is literally translated as "ninety thousand". The main pagoda of the complex is located on an elevation measuring 7 by 75 meters, you can reach it only through tunnels in the rocks.

Currently, not all the buildings of the Coetown complex are open to visitors, because There are serious damages, threatening the destruction of some of the details of the complex. For a long time, Coetown has not received proper care, but since 1996, work has been carried out here to remove centuries of dust. Although Coetown is included in the list of archaeological values ​​of the country, the work on its restoration is temporarily suspended due to insufficient funding.
