Cambodia - attractions

Among ordinary people, there are not many true experts in geography and history. Most of the human mass did not even think about the fact that there are still kingdoms in our world. One such place is just Cambodia, a kingdom located in the south of the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia between Vietnam and Thailand , which has its own very difficult history. We will tell you more about the main sights of Cambodia and about what it is just necessary to look at this place.

The Temples of Cambodia

The ancient temple complexes, located in Cambodia, are the most famous world religious buildings. After all, many of them appeared at a time when the Angora Empire was powerful. We will tell only about two temples, the biggest and most interesting, but know that there are many more.

1. Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia takes first place, in the list of local attractions. It is also known throughout the world as a huge religious building built without binding materials. This temple is fully dedicated to the Hindu deity Vishnu. A large ditch, 190 m wide and filled with water, was dug around the entire temple complex. Thanks to this moat, the temple escaped the onslaught of the sprawling jungle. A lot of lotus flowers grow in the moat water. By the way, inside the temple you will also see this flower.

In the shape of the lotus, 5 towers are built on the territory of the temple. The interior decoration of the complex is very colorful and picturesque, there are many images carved on stone slabs, statues and other all kinds of ancient creations. By the way, this temple is also called "funerary". At one time it was used for the burial of kings.

2. The temple of Ta Prohm in Cambodia is next in the list of temples, which must be seen. Perhaps you will become more interesting if you learn that some scenes from the film "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" were shot on the territory of this temple. The appearance is very impressive, because the temple was not specifically restored and freed from the jungle that attacked its territory. The buildings that are lined with vines and tree roots are what you will see on the 180 acres occupied by this temple.

Floating villages in Cambodia

In Cambodia, on Lake Tonle Sap, there are several floating villages. It is believed that this must necessarily look. But, what's all this so interesting? Imagine boats and rafts of various sizes and types, with houses and buildings erected on them. Shops, sports complexes, restaurants, police stations, hospitals, schools - all this can be seen by approaching the floating villages. It would seem - exotic, but most of these "buildings" have one huge minus - poverty. A lot of people living in this way are surrounded by such terrible, miserable and wild poverty that one does not want to continue the excursion at all. Although, some gifted people, after seeing here, begin to look at their whole lives from a philosophical point of view.

Now a little about the lake itself. The second name is "The Big Lake", fully justifies itself with its numbers. During the rainy season, they reach 16,000 km2, and the depth of this "inner sea" is 9 meters.

Museum of Genocide in Cambodia

Details terrible story of this kingdom, we will not remember. But about the monument, which colorfully tells about the time interval from 1975 to 1979, let's say separately. The Tuol Sleng prison, which was called "S-21", formerly a former school in its past, is known throughout the world as a place where more than a dozen people were killed. On the wall of one of the walls of this museum there is even a map made up of bones and skulls brutally murdered here.

Old men, women and children were subjected to the torments of hell and torture used in the brutal regime of Paul Pot. Today this place is considered a museum, in memory of that hard time and all tortured here.

As you can see now, Cambodia is not only ancient cities, temples, fascinating excursions and bright jungles, it is the whole story of one small kingdom that you will experience after visiting here. It may very well be that after returning from there, you will reconsider your views on life.
