Among all cases of detection of malignant neoplasms of the respiratory system, about 40% of diagnoses is adenocarcinoma of the lung. Unlike other varieties of oncological pathologies of this group, this disease does not depend on the person's consumption of tobacco and smoking experience. The main causes of adenocarcinoma development are limited pneumosclerosis , as well as inhalation of carcinogenic chemical compounds.
Prognosis of survival in adenocarcinoma of the lung
The described parameter varies within the limits corresponding to the stage of the tumor and the effectiveness of the treatment.
If the therapy started at an early stage of neoplasm growth, the survival over the next 5 years is 40 to 50%.
If adenocarcinoma is detected at the 2 stages of progression, the prognosis worsens to 15-30%.
Survival of inoperable patients with advanced cases of lung cancer is extremely low, only 4-7%.
Also, this indicator depends on the differentiation of the tumor, which is low and high.
Low-grade adenocarcinoma of the lung
The considered form of pathology is the worst variant of its course. The main feature of adenocarcinoma with low differentiation is rapid growth and metastasis at early stages. The patient feels such symptoms:
- fatigue and weakness;
- periodic hyperthermia;
- frequent pneumonia, acute respiratory infections, bronchitis;
- cough with purulent-mucous discharge;
- dyspnea;
- hemoptysis;
- weight loss;
- hemorrhagic pleurisy;
- cachexia.
Highly differentiated adenocarcinoma of the lung
This type of cancer is considered to be a lighter and better treatable form of adenocarcinoma.
However, a highly differentiated type of pathology is difficult to diagnose at the first stages of development, its detection often occurs even with an inoperable stage of the tumor.
The characteristic signs of such adenocarcinoma coincide with the symptoms listed for a low-grade neoplasm, but they manifest much later.
Treatment of lung adenocarcinoma
If the examined oncological disease is diagnosed at early stages, an operative intervention is performed:
1. Radiosurgical ("cyberknife").
2. Classical surgical:
- lobectomy;
- wedge resection;
- pneumonectomy.
In those cases when the operation is impossible for some reason, chemical and radiotherapy is carried out.
